Abstract : Diabetic nephropathy is a well known complication of both insulin-dependent and non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus. The classic findings of diabetic nephropathy are albuminuria, hypertension, and progressive renal insufficiency. Primary care physicians can efficiently monitor for the end organ complications of diabetes at routine office visits. Urinary evaluation for microalbumin is was to monitor for the effects of hyperglycemia on the kidneys.
