Abstract : The implementation of the Panama Canal Treaty (1 October 1979) necessitated the relocation of the US Army Tropic Test Center (USATTC) Gamboa A-l test area. The relocation effort involved site selection, preparation, and a conceptual validation of the USATTC Human Factors Jungle Test Area (HFJTA). The HFJTA is composed of several independent test sites-the manpack portability course, the land navigation site, the sound localization site, the target detection site, and the rifle marksmanship site.
