Abstract : A unique, advanced test system for the characterization of materials was designed and assembled. The test system is capable of simulating the mechanical, thermal, vacuum and variable atmospheric environments that high performance aerospace materials are subjected to during service. Details of the design, optimization, and performance testing of this system are described.
