Abstract : The principal developments during the three-year contract period may be described as follows: design and successful implementation of spray forming experiments using gamma-TiAl alloys; microstructural characterization and mechanical testing on spray formed gamma-TiAl alloys; two dimensional modeling of momentum and thermal behavior during spray atomization of gamma-TiAl; investigation of thermal residual stresses in spray formed gamma-TiAl using finite element methods; and finite element simulation of creep deformation and rupture of titanium aluminides.
