Abstract : This report discusses some approaches to three dimensional covariance function modeling, suited for innovation data from a numerical weather prediction model. The incorporation of a method using a simultaneous domain transformation and fit to the covariance data appears to be a useful method of generating nonhomogeneous covariance functions. Some preliminary experience is discussed, along with plans for follow-on work.
