Abstract : Tyrosine kinases mediate cellular responses to environmental conditions, and they are involved in regulation of proliferation and cell differentiation in a variety of systems. Overexpression or mutation of tyrosine kinases has been shown to result in cellular transformation, and this has been seen in breast tumors. Our laboratory identified a novel mouse epithelial cell specific intracellular tyrosine kinase, which we named Sik, for Src-related intestinal kinase.
