Abstract : This report describes the plans and specifications for a Florida Bay water quality model and provides tasks and schedules for its development and application. The model is required to address issues pertaining to nutrient inputs and associated impacts on water quality and sea grass, particularly as related to changes in freshwater inflows from south Florida through the Everglades and the Central and South Florida Flood Control Project. Modeling components discussed in the report include the hydrodynamic model; the water quality model, including submodels for the water column, benthic sediments, and sea grass; and the sediment transport model, which will also reside within the water quality model. Strategies for model calibration, confirmation, sensitivity analyses, and scenario testing are discussed. Data requirements and gaps are presented. Plans for technology transfer and partnering/collaboration are also discussed.
