Abstract : While breast cancer in many families is due to the known breast cancer genes, there is still a sizable proportion of families that do not show linkage to these known genes. Thus, it is important that other genetic loci responsible for these cases be investigated. The past year was mostly spent on developing theory for estimating linkage disequilibrium between a generalized mendelian locus and a nearby marker locus (Task 4). Work is progressing satisfactorily and results will be implemented in a computer program. A manuscript will be written in the next funding period.
