Abstract : The following exercise will determine the criteria for Single Stage to Orbit booster vehicles. To validate the assumptions and results several existing vehicles are examined. As a control the Manned Space Shuttle is used to calculate the equivalent orbital velocity. This velocity is then used to determine if the selected vehicle can achieve orbit and to calculate its payload capacity.
