Abstract : We showed that extrachromosomally amplified genes in double minute chromosomes (DMs) are removed from tumor cells through preferential incorporation into micronuclei that are generated in S-phase. This process is enhanced by DNA synthesis inhibitors, and requires p53 inactivation. In the past year, we developed technology that enables visualization of chromosome dynamics in living cells.
