Abstract : Chromium-iron alloy deposits, containing 94% chromium and 6% iron, have been plated on short sections of 3' gun-tube liners from a 'standard formulation' chrome-alum type bath. At 400 amp./sq. ft., the alloy was deposited on the lands at about 0,010 in. thickness per hour, but only about 1/10 as much plate was deposited on the land walls. A 'high throwing power bath formulation' which give a more uniform coverage of the alloy deposit at lower current densities is reported.
