Abstract : Radiographs were made of the form D Borolite and Metamic LT-1 cermet specimens using the same procedure as described in the preceding report. The resulting radiographs of the five Metamic LT-1 specimens and those of three Borolite specimens revealed no defects or flaws. This concludes the examination by radiography of the entire 23 form D cermet specimens. No flaws were apparent in any of the specimens. The apparent specific gravity and bulk density were determined by measuring the dimensions of the specimens, calculating the volume, and weighing. The methods for determining the apparent specific gravity, the bulk density, and the apparent porosity of the cermets were similar to the standard ASTM procedures. The determinations of the modulus of elasticity for the form D spcimens have been continued in order to ascertain whether age or a small change in temperature of the specimens would affect the results. The non-prismatic cermet forms were studied with the sonic apparatus in an attempt to find whether this non-destructive method of test would yield significant results.
