Abstract : Recent practical developments of refractory and metal combinations indicate the possibility of high temperature properties which have not been obtainable with metals alone. Study of the factors affecting heat resistance and the mechanisms of the process of erosion at high temperature of such compositions is warranted. Studies to determine the fundamental methods of test that will evaluate the potential usefulness of 'cermet' materials.
