Abstract : An experimental study has been made of the transmitting and reflecting properties of metal-plate media with the plane of incidence perpendicular to the edges of the plates. The magnitude of the reflection coefficient was measured at normal incidence on the modified Michelson interferometer, and the phase change in transmission, on a free-space dielectrometer. At oblique incidence, transmitted and reflected intensities were measured on a microwave analogue of the spectrometer. The results provide an experimental confirmation of the theory of Carlson and Heins treated in NRL Report 3534.
