Abstract : The area to be affected was investigated by a four-man survey team. All potential archaeological site locations were examined. No sites were found, but all areas were in very poor condition for effective survey work due to the advanced stage of crop growth. Mr. John Hesse, in charge of the field party, interviewed numerous local residents to see if they knew of any sites. They did not know of any in the affected area, but did know of material coming from sites in other areas of the county. One apparent mound in the affected area, marked by a red circle on Sheet 2, was reported by the landowner to have been built by a local farmer as a means of elevating his barn above flood waters.
