Abstract : A Draft Environmental Statement covering the construction and operation of Aeropropulsion Systems Test Facility (ASTF) at the Arnold Engineering Development Center (AEDC), Arnold Air Force Station, Tennessee, has been made and is provided for legislative action. The ASTF is a very large and highly versatile test facility which will accurately simulate flight environments for development, certification, and qualification testing of large airbreathing engines. The ultimate facility will provide conditioned air to test engines up to 100,000 lb thrust. Initially, the facility will provide testing of 75,000 lb thrust engines up to Mach 38. Engine tests are performed in two 28 ft diameter test cells. One cell is designed primarily for subsonic turbofan-type engines, the other for supersonic turbojet type engines.
