Abstract : This report presents a complete analysis of the work done to date on the post-detonation phenomena from the Sandstone films. Due to the extreme changes in brightness after detonation, a large number of frames from each film had improper exposures. The Fastax films were most useful during the first thirty milliseconds since the shorter exposure time limited the dynamic error and time could be measured accurately from the time markers on the film. The Mitchell films gave good resolution after thirty milliseconds, but the absence of time markers made time measurements uncertain. The lack of a value for the camera-to-aircraft distance or accurate position markers on the water surface limit the measurement to accuracies of less than + or - 100 meters on the best of the aerial photographs. A number of reports by the J-7 Photographic Analysis Sub-group have been incorporated into this account.
