Abstract : A digital simulation of aerial gunnery was developed. A six-degree-of-freedom attacking aircraft controlled by control surface deflections was implemented to perform aerodynamic lead pursuit of an evading target. The attacker is capable of flying within the bounds of its performance envelope. The target is a coordinated flight and aerodynamically constrained model capable of some evasive logic. Three sight systems have been implemented into the simulation. The program was written in FORTRAN IV and has been checked out on the XDS Sigma 5, the IBM 360/65, and the CDC 6600 computers. (Author)
