Abstract : The TQCM system is designed to measure surface contamination as a function of temperature on the SCATHA satellite. The TQCM system consists of two radiatively-cooled Heads and a Controller. Each Head contains a removable high-sensitivity 1.56 to the 9th power sq cm mass sensor, temperature probe and heater. By ground command, the Controller can set both sensors to operate simultaneously at +100, +30, 0, -30, -60C + or - 1 C or free run. Computer thermal modeling shows that a free running Head pointed into deep space will reach an equilibrium temperature of -163 C.
