Abstract : Samples of insulation materials under consideration for use on the Space Shuttle External Tank were tested to obtain material data and to evaluate their survivability at simulated flight conditions. Heat-transfer calibration data were obtained by the use of the thin-skin technique. All tests were conducted in the VKF Tunnel C. Selected results are presented to illustrate the test techniques and to show typical data obtained. (Author)
