Abstract : The vulnerability of 10 items of household equipment to carbon fibers was measured. These measurements were made for both an operational failure of the item and a possible input power-to-chassis short. During these tests no operational failures were observed. Several input power-to-chassis shorts were observed at the 10 to the 7th power fiber-seconds/cu m exposure level. The current observed during these shorts was below the level which could possibly harm a human body.
