Abstract : The Methodology investigation is reviewed in terms of the procedures followed, the products and accomplishments realized, and supporting analyses, with each item or activity related to the following objectives: (1) Development of generalized simulation methodology for T&E applications: (2) Enhancement of ARMTE's inventory of simulations; (3) Establishment of generalized simulation support of software systems and subroutine libraries to support program developments; and (4) Evaluation of the simulation methodology formulated through specific project applications. Investigation conclusions are presented regarding the necessity for simulation in T&E programs, the specific applications on which simulation should be used, and ARMTE simulation's capacity to support T&E projects. It is recommended that TECOM continue to emphasize having independent test community capability to utilize simulation in conducting cost effective T&E programs, and that TECOM project engineers be encouraged to utilize validated simulations in all areas of test planning and system performance analysis to minimize field tests. It is further recommended that ARMTE continue to enhance its simulation capabilities and facilities through continuing methodology improvement activities. (Author)
