Abstract : This document presents the principle of visible-light activated composite resins and the advantages of visible-light vs. ultraviolet light activation. Twelve units are compared on the basis of: cost; size and portability; length of cord; diameter of curing tip; method of cooling; voltage regulation; timer functions and accuracy; method of light transmission; location of controls; method of activation; depth of cure; possible hazards; evaluation of medical maintenance; and special features. Guidelines for use and selection are provided.
