Abstract : Testing of production 701E Flight Control Computer (FCC)/V10.1 Programmable Read Only Memory (PROM) software for Lot XI and above F/A-18C/D aircraft was conducted to verify that modifications required by Engineering Change Proposals (ECP's) 203 and 249 were correctly implemented, general flying qualities and maintenance functions of the 701E FCC/V10.1 PROM remained functionally equivalent to the 701B FCC/V8.3.3 PROM and preproduction 701E FCC/V10.1 PROM, and certify the 701E FCC/V10.1 PROM for carrier operations. Testing conducted from 27 May through 9 September 1988 included laboratory, ground, carrier suitability and flying qualities verification and validation of the 701E FCC/V10.1 PROM. Within the scope of these tests, system performance, maintenance functions, and general flying qualities were functionally equivalent to the 701B FCC/V8.3.3 PROM, and changes required by ECP's 203 and 249 were implemented correctly. The 701E FCC/V10.1 PROM are ready for integration testing and Operational Test and Evaluation (OPEVAL). It is recommended that the 701E FCC/V10.1 PROM be released for Lot XI integration testing by Naval Weapons System and OPEVAL by Operational Test and Evaluation Force.
