Abstract : The Phase I development of a real-time digital imager, to replace X-ray film cassettes, is performed. The image appears on the frost end screen is detected by an area of charge-coupled-devices and displayed on a high resolution display. Data collection time, which is the time to readout the CCD sensors and to store in a memory as a image profile, is about 1.2 seconds, and processing time, which is the tin to align aid to reconstruct the image as a complete picture is about 7 seconds. The experimental device with this speed is close to the real time observations during the treatment. faster processing unit can decrease the processing time in half for a image size of 4 inches by 4 inches is the development, slice the relation is linear between the image processing aid speed of the processing unit. The device can be used any branch of radiology where on-line verification is needed during the treatment. Since the data can be stored and transferred long distance digitally, the device is suitable at the location where digital data storage or transferring necessary.
