Abstract : The present invention comprises four plates of a low index of refraction transparent substrate, namely sodium chloride, arranged in an X configuration. Each plate is coated on both sides with germanium films by evaporating the germanium onto the plates. A well collimated beam of infrared light intersects the plates at the Brewster angle. Interference effects caused by thin germanium films of different thicknesses eliminate the unwanted s polarized beam.
