Abstract : The present invention relates to a method of increasing the heat of combustion of an oxide which is to be used in a pyrotechnic composition. It provides a method to increase the heat of combustion of zinc oxide and ferric oxide which is to be used in pyrotechnic munitions such as red phosphorus smokes and hygroscopic chloride (HC) smokes.
