Abstract : Theoretically dense, translucent or transparent, polycrystalline lead lanthanum zirconate titanate (PLZT) bodies are prepared by cold pressing calcined, alkoxy-derived PLZT powder and then sintering the resulting body in an oxygen atmosphere at a temperature below 1200C for about 4 to 8 hours. The polycrystalline quaternary ceramic bodies are useful as ferroelectric, antiferroelectric and/or electrooptic materials.
