Abstract : CFAR systems may become ineffective when extraneous targets present in threshold control cells raise the threshold detection level to such a point that the target in the cell being tested becomes obscured. A principal object of the patent application is to avoid the effect of extraneous targets by providing a CFAR processor capable of sensing their presence in one or more of the threshold control cells and of removing the targets from the computation which produces the threshold detection level.
