Abstract : A method and an apparatus for the determination of the presence and relative quantity of a reactive component or components in a gas mixture which is based upon the use of flueric gas concentration sensing systems, which give a signal whose frequency is dependent upon the absolute temperature and composition of the gas mixture, by altering the temperature and/or composition of the gas mixture by the alteration of at least one of the components of the gas mixture. The signal generated by gas as altered by a chemical reaction is compared with the signal generated by the unaltered gas or by another modified gas to indicate the change caused by the alteration of the reacted component, thus indicating the presence and relative quantities of this component.
