Abstract : The patent application relates to a system for achieving a burst speed of about 159% of steady state speed, i.e. a power level of 400% of steady state power, for a period of one hour or a lesser burst speed for a correspondingly longer duration in nuclear power vessels. Energy obtained from hydrogen and oxygen gases at 3,000 psi produces high pressure, high temperature steam which is used to compress the relatively low pressure, low temperature steam from an existing steady state boiler. The enthalpy drop produced is twice the drop available during steady state power, and as twice the mass flow is going through the turbine, four times the steady state power is available.
