Abstract : A lightweight noise attenuating enclosure is shaped to cover the head, neck and upper thorax. A rigid outer shell and a sound attenuation layer block up to ten db of ambient noise and a number of pads mounted along the mouth of the enclosure prevents the bypass of noise. Thusly fabricated, the enclosure is ideally suited to allow work site audiometry testing for the hearing loss caused by noisy machinery. An opening in the front wall of the enclosure allows oral and visual communications without overly compromising the enclosure's attenuation capabilities. (Author)
