Abstract : A reflector, adapted for use as a laser mirror, in which coolant flow passageways that are disposed within the reflector and behind the reflective surface are configurated in the shape of spirals. The spiral configuration of the coolant flow passageways: permits the use of a laser beam outlet (i.e., hole) in the laser mirror without short circuiting the coolant flow passageways; and, also provides a more uniform surface temperature of the laser mirror by smoothing out the temperature rise of the coolant, and by distributing the rise over the entire mirror, and also by placing the hottest coolant in the area of the lowest heat load, thereby minimizing distortion and/or breakdown of the laser mirror ordinarily caused in conventional laser mirrors by ineffective heat dissipation.
