Abstract : Ozone may be detected in the upper atmosphere by the ozonesonde of the subject invention. The inventive ozonesonde directs an ambient air flow in a continuous stream over a chemiluminescent disc, which reacts with the ozone to produce oxygen and light. The intensity of the light is detected and measured as an indicator of the ozone concentration. The air flow is exited from the instrument thereby allowing a maximum quantity of air to be sampled for a more accurate determination of the ozone concentration. (Author)
