Abstract : A rotary jet including a core-flow arrangement minimizes flow separation of primary and induced secondary flows over the afterbody of the jet rotor. By discharging a small portion of the primary jet through a central opening in the afterbody concentric with the nozzled rotor, a favorable pressure gradient is generated over the surface of the afterbody, which helps reduce or prevent flow separation thereover.
