Abstract : A method for the separation of uranium isotopes, particularly U235 is disclosed. The method employs a frequency selective laser irradiation of an adiabatically cooled beam of UF6 molecules, followed by the 'chemionization' i.e., SbF5 + UF6 SbF6(-) + UF5(+) of the selectively irradiated UF6 molecules, and finally separates the favored U235F5(+) product.
