Abstract : A spring is tightly wrapped about a circumference of a shaft and a spring safety retainer engages a periphery of the torsional spring about the shaft thereby securing the spring to the shaft. One end of the spring safety retainer engages the inner involutional surface of the torsion spring. The shaft can be rotated by various means such as a solenoid, vibration and/or shock. One object of this invention is a spring safety retainer able to securely hold a spring to a shaft under rigorous conditions. Another object is a spring safety retainer less costly to manufacture than previous retainers.
