Abstract : A hybrid unstable resonator cartridge comprising a Nd:YAG laser rod, passive Q-switch, resonator and collimating optics which are bonded together to form an integral assembly with the Q-switch being configured of a nickel-complex dyed polymethylmethacrylate plastic whose optical density is accurately controlled. Additionally, the bonding of the components is made by an optical grade adhesive having the required mechanical properties to bond and ensure the stability of the integrated structure over relatively wide ranges of temperature and shock encountered in portable applications.
