Abstract : The document describes the conductivity and oxidation resistance of polyacetylene and the conductivity of graphite are increased by implanting fluorine cations at an ion beam energy from about 10 to about 60 KeV and a current such that the power does not exceed 0.7w/sq cm until a layer of fluorine implanted material with an average fluorine concentration from about 5 to about 25 atomic percent is obtained.
