Abstract : This report describes a hollow symmetrical structure in the form of a preselected body of revolution, and a method of making same. The structure comprises a plurality of a predetermined number of identically shaped and sized exact involute surface plies which are successively disposed and joined circumferentially in a contacting, stack-like layered, and overlapping relationship. Each ply is made of the same material and with the same ply pattern which is configurated and structured such that the plies made from using it fit together perfectly and their respective boundaries form the preselected body of revolution, without the defects induced by the prior art, such as wrinkles and pattern distortion.
