Abstract : A method of discriminating the image of a camouflaged object or target from surrounding background by using the difference in the spectral distribution of radiation from the target intensity over that of the background. Enhancement is achieved by detecting reflected radiation from both the target and the background and transmitting this radiation through separate broad band filters having different frequencies. The respective filter's wavelengths are predetermined by the spectra of the target and of the background. The separately filtered radiation is then combined, one being subtracted from the other to delete the background from the resultant image of the target.
