Abstract : This patent discloses an apparatus for providing a stable platform for equipment to be employed in an underwater environment which includes a fin assembly for preventing uncontrolled azimuthal motion of the equipment when the fin assembly is suspended in the underwater environment to a level at which a current is present. The equipment is joined to a mounting which is rotatably positioned upon the fin assembly, and is oriented to a selected azimuth by the rotatable mounting in response to control signals received thereby, the fin assembly remaining at a fixed azimuthal orientation determined by the direction of the current as the mounting azimuthally displaces the equipment.
