Abstract : This patent discloses a lasing systemm for lasing at x ray wavelengths. In one embodiment, a neon-like sulfur ion S(6+) plasma is caused to radiate on its 3d to 2 p transition to pump a lithium like neon Ne(7+) plasma to obtain x ray lasing. In a second embodiment, a lithium-like silicon Si(11+) ion plasm ais caused to radiate on the 3d to 2p transition to pump lithium like magnesium Mg(9+) plasma to obtain x ray lasing.
