Abstract : This patent discloses a system for detecting a nuclear weapon explosion and assessing damage there from comprising a sensor head and an electronic signal processor is disclosed. The sensor head is spherical in shape and comprises a plurality of temperature sensors at different locations on the sensor head and provide information concerning the direction of the radiation. Elapsed time between thermal pulse peaks measure yield of the weapon. A plurality of pressure sensors embedded in the sensor head measure blast overpressure. The time lapse between the temperature and pressure signals measures distance. Gamma and neutron sensors indicate the type of weapon and radiation hazard. The electronic signal processor provides the necessary calculations. (JHD)
