Abstract : A method for making a radioactively labeled macromolecular substance includes the steps of: reacting a first bidentate ligand including at least two heterocyclic nitrogens with a macromolecule to form a modified macromolecule; reacting a radioactive metal ions having one member of the group selected from 97 Ru , 52 Fe, 191 Os and 67CU ions, with a second bidentate ligand including at least two heterocyclic nitrogens and a third bidentate ligand including at least two heterocyclic nitrogens, to form a metal-bidentate ligand complex, the first second and third bidentate ligand being the same or different; and reacting the metal-bidentate ligand complex with the modified macromolecule to form a radioactively labeled substance. The radioactively labeled macromolecular substances may be used for a variety of purposes such as a tumor localization reagents for positron emission tomography and other scintilligraphy methods.
