Abstract : A coating of india-stabilized zirconia protects a self-supporting substrate from high temperatures, as well as vanadate and sulfate corrosion. In one method of making such a protected substrate, a coating of india-stabilized zirconia is applied to the substrate. The substrate can be a metal or ceramic surface of a gas turbine or other type of engine.
