Abstract : In the last few years since 1958 there has been an enormous growth of research activity in the field of recoilless nuclear resonance absorption of gamma-radiation. This phenomenon has been observed in some 44 different isotopes and has been applied to a variety of problems in such fields as solid state physics, nuclear physics, relativity, chemistry, and even biology. The 14.4 keV transition in Fe alone has been used to investigate more than 500 substances, and reviews of this subject have now been published in some 20 different languages. This Index, which covers publications in the field appearing between 1958 and 1965, provides three different approaches for locating references of interest: by experiment (isotope and substance investigated), by subject category, and by author and/or co-author. In addition, relevant nuclear properties and decay scheme data are presented for each isotope. Parameters of interest are calculated from these properties. The Moessbauer Effect Data Index is designed to provide an organized cumulative index to published research results relating to the Moessbauer effect. Although the primary emphasis in this work is on experimental results, bibliography sections arranged by general topic (such as theory, review, instrumentation, etc.) also are included.
