Abstract : This sixth in the series of monographs sponsored by the International Copper Research Association is one the most ambitious of the series because of the complications associated with developing phase diagrams for ternary systems, and the number of ternary combinations that are possible with the many metals of interest in the metallurgy of copper. In the planning of this monograph, it was recognized that the number of ternary combinations of elements with copper as one of the three is very large. As a consequence, combinations that appeared to be of greatest interest currently, and possibly in the future, were selected for study. Unfortunately, there is very little information on many of those chosen, and this resulted in a further reduction in the list. This final product of the work covers 135 ternary systems. In addition, to limit the size of the task and the size of this volume, it was decided not to include binary systems. The reader will find it useful to refer to Volume I of this series, Selected Thermodynamic Values and Phase Diagrams for Copper and Some of Its Binary Alloys, when using this volume as that volume contains some of the important binary systems which bound the ternary systems considered here.
