GEOSITE is a knowledge-based expert system that provides guidance, from geotechnical engineering experts, for the selection of equipment and methods for a subsurface investigation at an individual exploration site for dredging project. The GEOSITE program recommends the following: (a) sediment sampling methods, (b) in situ strength testing methods, (c) methods for accessing the sampling/testing depth, (d)suitable field work platforms, and (e) material identification tests.
