Abstract : The methods suggested for the design of indeterminate trusses resemble the straightforward steps in the design of determinate trusses. Stresses of the highest amount are selected first to satisfy continuity. Then optimum reactions are chosen, followed by the determination of the member forces to satisfy static equilibrium. Finally, the member areas are obtained by dividing the forces by the stresses.
